Year 1600. Five men sit in a beer tavern in the village of Aarslev. Rumour has it they have been hexed by a sorceress out in the meadows, and now they are waiting for their execution, as the entrance door is broken up. Entrance of their lord Holder Rosenkrantz. He will save their lives. But the five men bear on both darkness and epiphany, and as the evening dawns, Holger approaches a violent truth on the incidence of Aarslev Meadows.
